Zooms that feel right: speed, focus and cursor
October 29, 2026 · 3 min read
Zoomy's camera is a spring simulation, so it speeds up and settles like a physical camera instead of jumping between two values. That is why the movement reads as natural.
Pick a speed
There are four speeds. Slower zooms feel calm and suit tutorials. Faster ones feel energetic and suit short social clips. Keep one speed through a whole video so it feels consistent.
Fixed point or follow the cursor
A fixed zoom holds on one spot, which is right for a button or a panel. Follow-cam tracks the cursor, which is better for dragging, typing and anything that moves.
Tidy up the cursor
Smoothing removes small jitters. Motion blur makes quick moves feel less abrupt. A click ripple shows viewers exactly where you clicked, and hiding the cursor when it is idle keeps the frame clean.
